One-time football hooligan, then a punk and an anti-fascist activist – Jan “Monchi” Gorkow, the front man for the northern German punk band “Feine Sahne Fischfilet” has taken a firm stance against anti-Semitism, racism, and homophobia. The rousing band plays Germany’s biggest music festivals in front of tens of thousands of fans. But at the same time, for many years, it has been on a registry of groups under watch for subversive activities. – Award-winning actor Charly Hübner proves as adept behind the camera as in front of it. For his first feature documentary, he followed the musician for three years, and interviewed his parents, teachers, and friends. The result is an intense, very personal portrait of a passionate activist that is as thrilling as the music of “Feine Sahne Fischfilet”. Presented in cooperation with the non-profit Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Film.
