Niilas lives with his father in a big city in Belgium. He barely remembers his mother – and now he’s supposed to spend his summer holidays with her. She lives with her new family in the far reaches of northern Sweden, among the Sami reindeer herders. He’s not interested in the world of reindeer husbandry and he lets his half-siblings Sunnà and Pontus know that he’s not a big fan of his new family and wishes he could have stayed with his father. Then a young reindeer disappears and it’s Niilas’ fault. Not until he goes out looking for it together with Pontus and Sunnà does he really get to know the family. “Cloudboy” captivates us with its impressive images of the Swedish landscape, shot to portray it as a place where children can roam free.
