Competition Narrative Films, Norway 2017, 79 Min., norweg. OV, engl. st

Music teacher Kasper ineptly tries to seduce his boss so that she doesn’t fire him. The scenario is interrupted by a call from his father, who has some news. Kasper’s recently deceased mother was a passionate quilter, and now her last quilt has qualified for a competition held on the west coast of Norway. Thus begins an unconventional journey. Kasper, now unemployed, and his father, who prefers to wear women’s clothes, take a tent and hit the road on a white Moto Guzzi. The two don’t really have much to say to each other, but in their sorrow, they draw close. Director Dahlsbakken has succeeded in making a film that is both tragic and comic; a road movie in which the protagonists do not become hunted, but instead draw strength from every odd encounter along the way, which keeps them going after a great misfortune.
