Mikash lives with his parents and his dog Chika in the Warsaw ghetto. When the Nazis forbid Jews to own dogs, the boy must say goodbye to his best friend. This puppet animation, rich in details, manages to speak gently to even young children about the Holocaust. Mikash’s experience of war consists of soldiers who forbid the children from owning dogs and eating apples.
