Villads fra Valby

Villads fra ValbyVillads aus Valby / Going to School

Children´s and Youth Films, Denmark 2015, 76 Min., German commentary, 5 years and older

Once Villads dropped his mother’s mobile phone in the neighbours’ inflatable swimming pool and then tries to dry it out. And because the microwave is off-limits, he uses the oven. Another time, the six-year-old dressed up in his new superhero costume and climbed up on the windowsill so he could fly out. It’s not easy figuring out the world. The lively young boy’s clumsiness is driving the grown-ups spare. He dropped his sandwich by accident on his last teacher’s trousers. This fast-paced film celebrates the childlike, extravagant imagination in colourful sequences – a modern version of Astrid Lindgren’s “Emil in Lönneberga”. Even when Villads learns that his games carry consequences – it’s the adults who have to adapt to the children. Frederik Meldal Nørgaard’s family comedy is based on the novels of Anne Sofie Hammer.
