Even though their last name is Christmas, yuletide is a rather dismal affair at Hugo’s house, because his own ‘father Christmas’ hates the merry season. When Pixy the elf misses his ride on the sleigh, he would have to pick the Christmas household to seek shelter. Hugo is thrilled with his new, unusual friend. But hiding an elf is no easy task. Pixy can become invisible at will, but it’s impossible to keep him out of mischief. While they’re camping on summer vacation, the situation comes to a head. Pixy can’t handle the heat of a Danish summer and Hugo’s father verges on a nervous breakdown after he comes under suspicion of harbouring an illegal immigrant. This is a funny, offbeat, kitsch-free Christmas movie that uses humour to address the issues of xenophobia and integration.
