Filmforum, Germany 2014, 90 Min.

This is the second case for border police detectives Thorsten Falke and Katharina Lorenz, the newest cops in Germany’s wildly popular “Tatort” crime series. This time, they investigate a case of falsification of documents and human trafficking. The body of a man is found in a park near Oldenburg. The deceased was a German-Syrian man with links to a human trafficking ring that the border police had under observation for some time. He had been tortured before being killed. The gruesome murder leads the investigators into the Syrian community, to a man who fled the civil war and whose presence in Oldenburg has dramatic consequences. Simultaneously, Superintendent Katz is investigating the death of a child, whose body was found in the boot of the car used to smuggle her mother and brother into the country. Director Marvin Kren tackles a highly topical subject with complexity and suspense.
