Children´s and Youth Films, Norway / Sweden 2014, 103 Min., 10 years and older
Anja is tough and knows what she wants. Nor does the 14-year-old give a fig that the boys at school insist that the football pitch is no place for girls. Even a bit of a brawl doesn’t daunt her. Anja always knows just what needs to be done, whether she’s hanging out with BFF Lisa or in training with classmates for upcoming football matches. But a nasty surprise awaits her at the hospital – she has leukaemia. She thought only old people got cancer. So what’s a girl to do when she’s gravely ill and at the same time in love for the first time? And will she get well in time for the tournament? The film is a new version of the Dutch film (Dennis Bots, 2012) based on the children’s book “Achtste Groepers Huilen Niet” (Eighth Graders Don’t Cry), written by Jacques Vriens and based on a true story.
