Tvillingsøstrene

TvillingsøstreneZwillingsschwestern / Twin Sisters

Competition Documentaries, Norway 2013, 58 Min., engl. OV

Even the couples who were there to adopt the two Chinese orphans noticed that the little girls looked very much alike. But the authorities insisted they weren’t sisters. So Alexandra moved with her new parents to a Norwegian village between mountains and fjords, while Mia ended up in a typical middle-class Californian household, pink nursery and all. But the two families remained in touch and their doubts grew. A DNA test finally confirmed their suspicions; the girls are identical twins. Completely different lifestyles and language barrier notwithstanding, the two girls stay close across the distance, each always longing for the next news of the other. This thought-provoking film tells the unique and emotional story of the twin sisters up until Mia’s first visit to Norway when the girls are eight years old.
