Savupiippu

SavupiippuDer Schornstein / White Chimney

Competition Documentaries, Finland 2014, 24 Min.

In the southern Finnish town of Aulanko, summer seems to go on forever. In the 1930s, tourism was booming. A new hotel opened and became a rendezvous point for high society. In the late summer of 1939, there was a wrap party for a film here, attended by 19-year-old actress Sirkka Sari. One month later, World War II broke out. The film explores what became of the up-and-coming star and the vacation spot on the lakes.
