20 years ago, two siblings were brutally murdered in a summer house. The unsolved case lands on the desk of Carl Mørck and Assad of Special Crime Unit Q. There was a conviction at the time, though the supposed perpetrator has long been out of prison. The two detectives – supported by their assistant Rose – uncover relationships that point to former boarding school students Pram and Dybbøl, both of whom are now influential top-level managers. An emergency call placed by a young woman, is discovered in an archive, leads the investigators to believe they’re on to something. They must turn up Kimmie, who witnessed the crime, and is the only one who can help. Kimmie has been missing for years, though she’s said to have been spotted in an area frequented by homeless people. But it seems Mørck and Assad are not the only ones looking for Kimmie; someone wants to silence her at all cost. A dramatic hunt begins.
