Filmforum, Germany 2013, 83 Min.
This documentary film by Rasmus Gerlach shows how the fugitives organize themselves in the St. Pauli church, how the whole quarter helps them turn their refugee camp into an “Embassy of Hope”, and how their combined efforts simultaneously allow them to maintain everyday church life. During the film shoot, pastor Wilm unveils his past as a child fugitive from Schleswig-Holstein, which helps him relate to the fugitives from Lampedusa. Their fate had not yet been decided upon at the end of the film shoot. But the pastor intends to celebrate Christmas with them in St. Pauli!
