Roald Amundsen (1872-1928) is considered the “conqueror of both poles”. But behind the heroic facade of Norway's most famous man of his time lies a highly contradictory personality. That which seems so glamorous outwardly, outshines the questionable character of a cold-hearted man who cheats on his brother and is incapable of giving love. He makes entire nations his enemy on account of his cynicism. He leaves the woman who loves him, and dies in an attempt to rescue the man whom he despises the most ... Historical footage depicts a self-promoting man who is very conscious of the media and of his own power. His darker aspects come to light in reconstructed scenes based on letters and diaries evaluated by the Amundsen biographer Thor Boman Larsen.
