Monica Zetterlund (1937-2005) was a jazz legend. Her renown was only increased when she made the last place at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest with 0 points. Her fans eagerly followed her rise from insignificant telephone operator in the Swedish small town of Hagfor to a queen of Stockholm and New York's club scene, to a celebrated actress at the side of Live Ullmann (in Jan Troell's “The Emigrants”). Now Per Fly's fascinating biopic reveals that Monikca Zetterlund had a secret, turbulent, backstage lovelife. The film features jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Evans and Miles Davis as well as an admirable film debut by the Icelandic-Swedish singer Edda Magnason. It received the Nordic Film Prize in August.
