Isdraken

IsdrakenDer Eisdrache / The Ice Dragon

Films for young viewers, Sweden 2012, 77 Min., 9 years and older

Mik has a far-out childhood in the major town of Stockholm - with a rock musician for a father, a brother who teaches him how to box and be afraid, and with a lot of capacity in his imagination for monsters and large, wild animals. However, his world is in dire threat when his father starts drinking again and his older brother gets involved with the police. The youth welfare office brings Mik to his aunt Lena in North Sweden. What feels like exile at first, soon develops into an action adventure involving a cat factory, his first love, and a ride on an ice dragon. But then the youth welfare office shows up again and tears Mik from his new home - straight into a “professional” foster family ... This adaptation of a youth novel by Mikael Engström has won several awards at various international festivals.
