As blue in the face as a character from James Cameron's “Avatar”, Juri spends his days and nights at the computer, playing online games. The fact that he will flunk his exams is of little concern to Juri. Only when his girlfriend forces him to choose between her and his games does he attempt to give them up. But then Niki shows up at his doorstep, a fellow gamer from the net, a web address tattooed on his arm. As Juri logs into the address, he becomes spellbound by a game that turns out to be potentially lethal for him and the other gamers. The deeper he delves into the ominous game, the more difficult it becomes to differentiate between himself as a player and his avatar “Rat King”. “Rat King” is a gripping thriller about online addiction. Director Petri Kotwica has drawn up a psychological setting that coherently incorporates the stylistic visual elements of video and online games in the highly professional manner that is typical of his work.
