Films for young viewers, Denmark 2011, 96 Min., 12 years and older
The sudden death of their mother Monika leaves 12-year-old Piet and his older sisters Rianne (14) and Donna (17) in a state of shock. Because they are afraid that the authorities may seperate them, they decide to keep it a secret. The three adolescents try to live on as though nothing happened, and each of them deals with the loss in their own personal manner. When Piet's father Sören turns up, they become increasingly tangled up in contradictions and the whole thing threatens to come to light. Then a friend from Monika's youth calls, requesting her to sing their old song on a television show. Monika had once been the lead singer in a band, whose song “Golden Promises” had been quite a smash hit. Donna, who has a striking resemblance to her mother and whose voice sounds like her mother's on the telephone, assumes her identity. At first, her siblings refuse to support her actions, until their tightening financial situation forces them to contrive a plan.
