Retrospective, Norway 1958, 76 Min.
In August 1958, six people from Oslo travelled to Østerdalen. Crime author Bernhard Borge and his wife Sonja, the psychoanalyst Kai Bugge, the editor Gabriel Mørk and the lawyer Harald Gran and his fiancé Liljan Werner set out to visit a mutual friend: Bjørn Werner, Liljan's brother, who had retired to a secluded cabin in the woods. But when they arrive, Werner has disappeared. They discover his dog's corpse at a nearby pond. The mysterious circumstances bring back memories of an old tale: A one-legged man was said to have killed his sister and her lover before drowning himself in this pond one hundred years ago. Since then everyone who spent longer amounts of time in the cabin was said to be driven by a longing to also seek death in the pond. As they attempt to solve the mystery, the newcomers similarly fall victim to the deathly spell ... In 1998 the mystery thriller was voted one of Norway's best four films of all times in a crictics' survey by the Oslo “Dagbladet”.
