"Bingo" tells of the life, hopes and dreams of accomplished country women from Schleswig-Holstein: Gisela, Christel, Elke, Helga and Emmi were born between 1933 and 1945, come from simple backgrounds and had to start doing farmwork as soon as they had finished school. All of them speak perfect Low German - even if they don't originate from the North - and they all married early and had children. And even though all five of them worked extremely hard for all of their lives, they must now make do with very little money. The retired old ladies all live alone and their greatest pleasure is to travel to play bingo - either to the neighbouring villages, but especially to Denmark, where it is legal to play for cash. Highly concentrated and perfectly prepared, they hope to hit the jackpot!
