Human remains are found in an animal trap on a manor estate near Kiel. They belong to a member of a hunting party and initially it seems that a militant animal rights activist is behind the murder. But then inspector Borowski finds out that the hunting party has something to hide. The huntsmen have chosen the remote etstate to hunt specially imported bears illegally without being disturbed. Only when another part of a human body is found at a tanner's does the tide turn. A serial killer seems to be playing a murderous match with Borowski and the police. When the hunting party's gamekeeper is in mortal peril, Borowski must act swiftly to keep the upper hand in his race against the killer.
