Headhunter

Special, Denmark 2009, 100 Min., German version with audio description

Headhunter

Former journalist Martin Vinge is made an offer that he cannot refuse: Niels Frederik Sieger, head of a global Danish oil company, hires him to find a successor for the company management. The head-hunt is supposed to take place secretly, as Sieger's son Daniel has ambitions to take said position. But the old Sieger wants new blood to flow in the company's veins. Step by step, Martin Vinge becomes inextricably entangled in a net of schemes and brutal power games, in the course of which his own family becomes endangered. Director Rumle Hammerich has shot a star-cast corporate thriller that has been running very successfully in Copenhagen's cinemas since August and has been termed by critics as the best film of its genre. Hammerich succeeds in conveying insights into the power mechanisms of the economic elite while keeping up the tension throughout. The character of oil magnate Sieger is based on the Danish entrepreneur Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, whose shipping company made him Denmark's richest citizen by far. The film stars an excellent Lars Mikkelsen, who is the older brother of superstar Mads Mikkelsen.
