After a heart attack, schlager-music star Alexander Ludwig suffers from serious memory loss. In a rehabilitation clinic he meets Heinrich. The old pianist prefers to spend his time at the piano rather than at kinesitherapy. Together with two of Heinrich's old friends they found a jazz band, following the motto "we'll always find something better than death". Unfortunately Alexander doesn't recognize his own music – and actually finds it quite deplorable. But that is far less tragic for him than the fact that a young woman keeps visiting him, claiming that she married him two years earlier. In his memory he has an entirely different family...
