Min Avatar og mig

Mikkel is a moderately successful documentary filmmaker who lives a modest life in Copenhagen. When the Danish Film Institute repeatedly refuses to fund a planned film project of his, Mikkel despairs and retreats into the virtual world of the Internet: He registers with “Second Life” and roams the artificial realm of computer existence in the form of his alter ego, his “Avatar”. This is where he meets Helena, the attractive owner of a nightclub who makes a pass at him, and film producer Mike, who wants to finance Mikkel’s new film. While his “Second Life” provides Mikkel with the sense of fulfilment that he lacks in the real world, the basis of his real existence threatens to come apart: His girlfriend throws him out of the shared apartment, and the film industry of Copenhagen shows less and less interest in the faded director. A clever mixture of documentary and acted scenes reflects the current trend towards shifting the fulfilment of human needs to the virtual world of the Internet.
