Special, Norway 2008, 121 Min., German subtitles
Eight years ago, Thomas kidnapped a little boy. Back then, the boy died. In the meantime, Thomas has been to prison, from which he has just been released on bail. Having become a good organist whilst in jail, Thomas gets a job in a church. Here he meets Anna, the local vicar and a single mother. Cautiously, and hesitantly at first, the two of them begin a love affair. However, Thomas does not tell her about his past; while becoming best friends with Anna's little son, Jens. One day, Jens is gone. Abducted. – The Danish actress Trine Dyrholm gives a brilliant performance in this norwegian production: as a mother who is torn between a desire for revenge and true concern, who has never gotten over the death of her child, she takes what she considers justice into her own hands. Told from two opposite perspectives, Erik Münden's award-winning film culminates in a gripping drama about human guilt, remorse and forgiveness.
