Special, Sweden 2009, 91 Min.
The burnt corpse of a woman is found in Stockholm. The murder victim belonged to a group of environmental activists who are planning a number of attacks across the globe. Kommissar Beck's unpredictable, grumpy colleague Gunvald Larsson becomes suspected of being involved in the murder. Of all people, it is Beck who must arrest his long-standing partner Larsson. But the latter flees – and begins to seek the activist's real murderers of his own account. Simulateously, evidence is accumulating as to an immanent attack on Sweden. This gripping thriller, filling Swedish cinemas since August, is built around the characters from the Martin Beck novels by co-authors Sjöwall and Wahlöö, which were made into a TV series in the early 90s, and boast a large global fan community. It stars the famous Swedish actors Mikael Persbrandt and Peter Haber.
