Per and Kåre share a flat. They are both passionate about soccer, both are great charmers – and both suffer from Down Syndrome. While Per is very generous with his compliments, Kåre has a girlfriend with whom he is going steady. Maybritt is a colourful personality: every day of the week she chooses her clothes according to another bright colour. Just like Kåre she receives benefit payments from the state; in order to earn a little more on the side the two of them collect returnable bottles. When Kåre and Maybritt get engagaed, Kåre’s caring mother reacts ill-temperedly. She does not think much of the bride. But when Maybritt notices that her groom is no longer wearing his engagement ring, Kåre has fallen out with her, too … Director Øyvind Sandberg’s award-winning film documents little everyday dramas in relationships that gain considerable importance and urgency under the conditions set by handicaps. The film grants an open and sensitive view into the everyday life of handicapped people, into which love enters as the extra-ordinary, as it does in anybody’s life.
