Hjemve

Rudkøbing – a quaint little town on the Danish isle of Langeland, in which everyone knows each other and where there is great neighbourly solidarity. The idyll is disturbed when one night a man is spotted, roaming the streets absolutely naked. Was it a stranger? Or someone from the town community, unwilling to show his face? Mistrust slowly creeps into the minds of the population of Rudkøbing until a small group of people gather to track the man down. Director Lone Scherfig has made a charming modern version of a Danish “Folkekomedie”. Similar to the German “Heimatfilm”, this genre often features a village community threatened from the outside, with love and trust triumphing in the end. But in “Just Like Home” the idyll is threatened from within. An array of Danish cinema stars come together to make this film an all-round ensemble success.
