Bäst i Sverige!

10-year-old Marcello doesn’t have an easy life. His father wants him to become a professional footballer. But Marcello never scores a goal. Marcello’s mother wants her son to become a priest, and gets him to join the church choir. But Marcello can’t sing. His dream is to fly high above the rooftops of his home town – if only he wasn’t so scared of heights. So Marcello turns to Jesus – and heaven sends help in the form of Fatima, a new Muslim schoolmate, who is self-assured and a fantastic footballer. But Fatima has problems of her own. Her older brothers want to put a stop to her playing football. Together, Fatima and Marcello are strong. Ulf Malmros’ tale of two little heroes is told with humour and affection. A huge box office hit in Sweden, the film has won many prizes, including the 2002 Children’s and Youth Film Prize of the Nordic Film Institutes in Lübeck. The film went on general release in Germany in 2004.
