N.O.R.W.A. and Y. – six letters, and six lives. Freddy, Oyvind, Karsten, Petter, Kai and Edgar have painted these letters on their chests. They are fans of the Norwegian national football team. Together, they run a garage in Oslo. But the EdGarage (as it is called, because Edgar is the owner) is on the verge of bankruptcy. Nevertheless, they set out for Germany to support their team in the World Cup. The journey is not all plain sailing, though. All six of them are plagued by their fear of unemployment – and Edgar by his conscience. Twenty years ago, he fathered a child in Germany, but he has never seen his son. “Playing Wide" is the feature film version of a highly successful advertising spot that Harald Zwart produced for Norwegian Telecom. The result is an entertaining comedy in which even the toughest guy has a heart.
