Stockholm in the sweltering summer of 1975. Juan, who has emigrated to Sweden from an Arab country, works in a vegetable wholesale market during the day and as a cleaner in a fast food restaurant at night. He still hasn’t managed to fit in properly in Sweden. Waiting at the bus stop one lonely morning, he meets the beautiful Finnish tango dancer Juli. Together, they spend a few dreamy days in the heat of the city – and fall in love. But Juan is about to get a visitor – his wife. In this poetic love story, Amir Chamdin plays the main role as well as directing and writing the script. He has created a film about the beauty and fragility of first true love that makes for compelling viewing. “God Willing” won an award for its camerawork at the Göteborg film festival. And quite rightly so, for the hypnotic black-and-white imagery shot with old panavision lenses is utterly beguiling. Juli is played by Nina Persson, lead vocalist of the band The Cardigans.
