Wendy Mitchell has been appointed as the new curator of the series program at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck. Mitchell is a US-born, UK-based journalist, moderator and film festival consultant who has become a specialist with Nordic film and TV over the past two decades. She will also continue to serve as contributing editor and Nordic correspondent for Screen International and ScreenDaily; the Nordic and UK delegate for San Sebastian International Film Festival; and the producer of the Sundance Film Festival: London, amongst other freelance projects with Berlinale EFM, Cannes Marche, EAVE, First Cut Lab and more.
"Nordic series are one of the hallmarks of the festival, and I am delighted to welcome Wendy Mitchell, a proven media expert, to Lübeck," said Monika Frank, Senator for Culture and Education of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.
Wendy Mitchell will begin her role with the festival on July 15, 2022. “Over the past decades, I’ve become more and more obsessed with Nordic storytelling, both in cinemas and on TV, in my roles as a journalist, interviewer and film festival expert. I was honoured to serve on one of the juries at Nordic Film Days Lübeck in 2021 and to join the festival’s programming team in 2022 is a real honour. I look forward to discovering a new crop of great Nordic and Baltic series this year and connecting those creators with the passionate audiences in Lubeck," says Wendy Mitchell. She replaces Christian Modersbach, who after eleven years with the Nordic Film Days will now take on new professional challenges.
"We thank Christian for the creative collaboration. With his experience as managing director of the NFL, he developed the series program for the festival in 2016 and has successfully established it since then" comment festival directors Susanne Kasimir and Thomas Hailer.
