The prize winners of the 64 Nordic Film Days Lübeck

The film awards for the 64th Nordische Filmtage Lübeck were handed out this evening at the gala Prize Night at Theater Lübeck. Host Loretta Stern hosted the ceremony during which prizes worth 63,000 euros were awarded. The first Nordische Filmtage award – an historical brick from Lübeck – was the Honorary Award handed to Friðrik Þór Friðriksson during the NFL opening night at the CineStar cinema on November 2.

Following last year’s consensus, the juries of the NDR Film Prize and the Interfilm Church Prize both honoured the same film – Walad Min Al Janna directed by Tarik Saleh took home the NDR narrative film prize worth 12,500 euros as well as the Interfilm trophy, endowed with 5,000 euros. The Finnish film Tytöt tytöt tytöt by Alli Haapasalo also scored twice. It won the prize of the Sparkassen Stiftung for best Children’s & Youth film, as well as the award from the youth jury. An award for best Nordic or Baltic short film made its debut this year, going to Skolen ved havet by Norwegian filmmaker Solveig Melkeraaen.

The 5,000-euro Baltic Film Prize for a Nordic film went to the Danish-Icelandic-French co-production Vanskabte Land by Hlynur Pálmason. Also worth 5,000 euros, the Documentary prize awarded by the DGB North went to Armotonta menoa – Hoivatyön lauluja, directed by Susanne Helke.

Director Katrine Brocks was onstage at Theater Lübeck to accept the Friends of the NFL association prize honouring a feature directing debut (endowed with 7,500 euros) for Den store Stilhed.

Meanwhile, the audience jury selected by the Lübecker Nachrichten daily selected the Norwegian-Swedish comedy Alle Hater Johan by Hallvar Witzø. The prize carries an endowment of 5,000 euros. Director Pola Rader was on hand to accept the CineStar Prize worth 5,000 euros for her film and died together one day. Finally, the Children’s jury gave its seal of approval to the Danish film Robotbror by Frederik Nørgaard.
