The Nordic Film Days Lübeck introduces a new section – 360° films in the InfinityDome

The Nordic Film Days Lübeck will present sixteen 360° films and art works in the InfinityDome at Klingenberg Square, a mobile Fulldome with an exterior diameter of almost 20 meters, equipped with a 360-degree projector. For several years, the festival has showcased immersive content and for the first time this year, the Nordic Film Days Lübeck is dedicating a separate section to that innovative digital format.

The Immersion 360° section, like the rest of the festival programming, will focus on films from the Scandinavian and Baltic regions, but Germany will also be represented.

Among the highlights of the InfinityDome presentations are three vintage Visual Music light symphonies, made between 1928 and 1932, perfectly suited for the surround experience. Visual Music adapts musical structures into visual composition. Another attraction will be “Árran 360°”, a fusion of indigenous storytelling and innovative technology that premiered at this year’s Venice Biennale. The section also includes 360° films for children, expanding the festival Children’s and Youth section to the immersive InfinityDome.

The InfinityDome is made possible by the generous support of Stadtwerke Lübeck and the Possehl Foundation.

The entire Nordic Film Days programme will be announced at a press conference on October 12.

The Immersion 360° section is headed up and curated by Sebastian Häger. When he’s not occupied with the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, the focus of his curatorial work is immersive cultural and art programming. From 2019 to 2022, he programmed for the series “The New Infinity”, a cooperation of Berliner Festspiele and Stiftung Planetarium Berlin, in which planetariums were explored as galleries of the future. He is currently working on opening an artists’ house for immersive artistic practice, as well as creative tourism, as part of the programme for Esch2022 - European Capital of Culture in Luxembourg.
