Inhalt/ Summary

Eine alleinerziehende Mutter ist gerade aus dem Gefängnis entlassen worden. Für sie und ihre Tochter geht es darum, nach vier Jahren einen neuen Anfang zu schaffen. Der Vater ist tot. Aber wie erklärt die Mutter ihrer Tochter die Wahrheit über den Tod des Vaters? Sie tötete in einem Augenblick des Zorns den Mann, der vermutlich das Beste war, was ihr je begegnete. Ein Dokumentarfilm über Schuld, Verantwortung von Eltern, den Schmerz, wenn man die Wahrheit kennt, und Vergebung.

A single mother has just been released from prison. For the woman and her daughter, the important thing is to make a new start after four years. The father is dead. But how can the mother explain to her daughter the truth about her father’s death? In a moment of anger she killed the man who was probably the best thing that ever happened to her. A documentary film about guilt, the responsibility of parents, pain when one knows the truth – and about forgiveness. “Black Cat on the Snow” was awarded the first prize at the International Film Festival in Tampere.

Regisseur Anu Kuivalainen studierte in Lahti Fotografie und an der Universität in Helsinki Film und Fernsehen. Es folgten 1994/95 Studienaufenthalte in Berlin, Prag und Amsterdam.

Director Anu Kuivalainen studied photography in Lahti, and film and television at the University of Helsinki. Periods of study in Berlin, Prague and Amsterdam followed during 1994/95.
