Inhalt/ Summary

Dass „Kletter-Ida“ in Dänemark mehr Zuschauer als „Harry Potter“ in die Kinos zog, blieb in Hollywood nicht unbemerkt. Die amerikanische Neuauflage des dänischen Kinohits hält sich klugerweise eng an die Vorlage, deren Handlung sie aber nach Los Angeles überführt. Auch in „Catch That Kid“ (so der Originaltitel) plant Maddy, wie Idas amerikanisches Pendant hier nun heißt, den Einbruch in eine Bank, für die ihre eigene Mutter ein hoch kompliziertes Sicherheitssystem entwickelt hat. Und wie im Original sind auch diesmal ihre beiden Kumpane bis über alle Ohren in das coole und zu allem entschlossene Mädchen verliebt. Als Zugabe gibt es nach dem spektakulären Einbruch noch eine rasante Verfolgungsjagd durch die Straßen von Los Angeles – bei der die waghalsigen Kids natürlich Go-Karts fahren. Doch kommt neben der verstärkten Action auch der Humor nicht zu kurz. Vor allem ein hysterischer Sicherheitschef sorgt für die Lacher in diesem familientauglichen Unterhaltungsfilm.

The fact that “Catch That Kid” drew a bigger audience in Denmark than “Harry Potter” was not lost on Hollywood. The American remake of the Danish box office hit sticks close to the original plot, while transferring the action to Los Angeles. In the US version, Maddy (as Ida’s American counterpart is called) plans a heist in a bank that uses a highly sophisticated security system designed by her own mother. As in the Danish original, both her accomplices are head over heels in love with the cool and utterly determined heroine. After the spectacular break-in, the film culminates in a crazy chase through the streets of Los Angeles – with the kids in go-karts, of course. Apart from the heightened action, the film is also big on humour – especially in the character of the hysterical security officer. Fun for all the family.
