Inhalt/ Summary

Fußballträume hängen oft eng mit der Schwärmerei für Mädchen zusammen: Der 26-jährige Kåre ist nicht nur ein Fußballfanatiker, der davon träumt, für Manchester United zu spielen. Er wünscht sich auch nichts sehnlicher als seine Jugendliebe Anna zu heiraten - und zwar in Old Trafford, dem Heimatort von Manchester United. Kåres Wirklichkeit sieht aber ganz anders aus: Er arbeitet als Lagerarbeiter in einer Werft und trainiert die örtliche Jugendmannschaft. In Liebesdingen hat er mit seinem alten Rivalen Stian zu kämpfen, der eines Tages als zwielichtiger Geschäftsmann in Kåres Heimatort auftaucht. Diese romantische Komödie lebt von ihrem umwerfenden Humor und ihrer dichten lokalen Atmosphäre: An Originalschauplätzen in West-Norwegen gedreht, zeigt dieses Spielfilmdebüt überzeugend, welche Rolle Träume an abgelegenen Orten haben - und ruft dazu auf, sich nicht im Schwärmen zu verlieren, sondern möglichst bald das reale Leben in die Hand zu nehmen. „Viele laufen 'rum und träumen davon, Fußballprofi zu werden. Football dreams and crushes on girls often go hand in hand. 26-year-old Kåre is football mad, and dreams of playing for Manchester United. He works in a dockyard warehouse and trains the local youth team. In love, he has an old rival, Stian, who turns up in Kåre's home town one day as a shady businessman. This romantic comedy is bursting with humour and local atmosphere. Shot on location in West Norway, it is a convincing portrayal of the importance of dreams in remote places, and a plea not to lose oneself in fantasy, but to grasp the reality of life. Lots of people run around dreaming of becoming professional footballers. One of the messages in my film is that you shouldn't hold on to those dreams too long," says Magnus Martens of his feature film debut. "

Regisseur Magnus Martens, Jahrgang 1973, erhielt seine Ausbildung an der International Film School in London und debütierte 1999 mit dem Kurzspielfilm „Eddie Stargazer, den die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck im selben Jahr zeigten. Seither hat er viele Werbefilme und Musikvideos gedreht. 2002 war er mit der Episode „Pokemon Power" an dem Kompilationsfilm „Utopia - Nobody is Perfect in the Perfect Country" beteiligt. „United" ist sein Spielfilmdebüt. "
