Inhalt/ Summary

Die 16-jährige Lilja bleibt allein in einer heruntergekommenen Vorstadt irgendwo in Russland zurück, als ihre Mutter einem neuen Liebhaber nach Amerika folgt. Liljas einziger Freund ist der elfjährige Volodja. In kalten Nächten kuscheln sich die beiden aneinander und träumen von einem besseren Leben. Irgendwann hat Lilja genug von ihrem Leben im Elend, sie beginnt, ihren Körper zu verkaufen. Dann trifft sie Andrei, der ihr vorschlägt, gemeinsam nach Schweden zu gehen, wo ein Leben im Wohlstand möglich sei. Lilja lässt sich darauf ein - und wird zum Opfer einer Schlepperbande. Nach seinem sensiblen Jugendporträt „Fucking Åmål und der köstlichen Satire auf die 68-er-Bewegung „Zusammen" widmet sich Lukas Moodysson in „Lilja 4-ever" seinem Thema erneut mit atemberaubender Sicherheit und Schärfe. Doch diesmal ist es ein Thema, das unter die Haut geht: Wohl noch nie sind die Abhängigkeiten zwischen Armut, Kinderprostitution, wirtschaftlicher Macht und der Skrupellosigkeit in „Wohlstandsstaaten" so treffend und erschütternd dargestellt worden. „Lilja 4-ever" ist unheimlich hart, aber auch unheimlich wahr - und wichtig. When her mother follows her new lover to America, 16-year-old Lilja stays behind in a downtrodden Russian suburb. Lilja's only friend is 11-year-old Volodya. On cold nights, they cuddle up together and dream of a better life. Tired of this life of deprivation, Lilja begins to sell her body. She meets Andrei, who suggests that they should go to Sweden together, where a life of ease and wealth is possible. Lilja agrees - and becomes the victim of a gang of human traffickers. Following his sensitive youth portrait Fucking Åmål / Show Me Love" and his satirical gem "Together" about the student generation of 1968, Lukas Moodysson once again hits the mark with "Lilja 4-ever". But this time it is a film about a topic that really gets under your skin: rarely have the close links between poverty, child prostitution, economic power and the unscrupulous machinations of the industrialised world been portrayed with such harrowing candour. Lukas Moodysson wurde 1969 in Südschweden geboren. Mit 17 veröffentlichte er eine Gedichtsammlung, schrieb später Bücher über Poesie und einen Roman. Seine Ausbildung erhielt er an der Universität von Stockholm am Institut für Film, Radio, Fernsehen und Theater. „Raus aus Åmål („Fucking Åmål", 1998), Moodyssons erster Spielfilm, war bei Publikum und Kritik ein großer Erfolg und wurde u.a. für den Europäischen Filmpreis nominiert. Mit „Zusammen" (2002) und „Lilja 4-ever", der beim Filmfestival in Venedig 2002 Premiere hatte, konnte Moodysson an seinen frühen Erfolg anknüpfen und wurde so zu einem der gefragtesten Regisseure der jüngeren Generation. In jüngster Zeit hat er zusammen mit Stefan Jarl den Dokumentarfilm „Terroristen" über die Unruhen anlässlich des G-8-Gipfels in Göteborg gedreht und ein neues Spielfilmprojekt vorbereitet, das eine „Mischung aus Big Brother und Hieronymus Bosch" darstellen soll. "

Lukas Moodysson was born in southern Sweden in 1969. At the age of seventeen, he published a volume of poetry, and later wrote books about poetry and a novel. He trained at the Institute for Film, Radio, Television and Theatre at the University of Stockholm. Fucking Åmål / Show Me Love" (1998), Moodysson's first feature film, was a huge success with audiences and critics alike and was nominated for the European Film Prize. Moodysson continued his success with "Together" (2002) and "Lilja 4-ever", which premiered at the 2002 Venice Film Festival, and has become one of the most sought-after directors of the younger generation. Recently, he worked with Stefan Jarl on the documentary "Terrorists" about the riots at the G8 summit in Göteborg, and is now preparing a new feature film project that will be "a cross between Big Brother and Hieronymus Bosch"."
