Vater und Sohn reisen als Wandermusiker in Zügen durchs Land. Doch eigentlich geht es dem Vater eher darum, die Mitreisenden durch erschütternde Geschichten zu milden Gaben zu bewegen. Der Sohn schweigt dazu. Doch die Begegnung mit einer Gruppe junger Männer stellt ihn vor eine Entscheidung: Welchen Weg soll er von nun an einschlagen? Der erst Kurzspielfilm des Dokumentarfilmers Audris Stonys erzählt eine beeindruckende Episode aus dem heutigen Alltag Litauens.

Father and son are travelling musicians. But the father is more interested in moving his fellow train passengers to part with their money when he tells them his sob-stories. The son says nothing. Until an encounter with a group of young men means he has to make a decision about the direction his life will take from now on. The first short feature by documentary film-maker Audris Stonys tells a compelling tale of Lithuania today.

Regisseur Audrius Stonys, 1966 in Vilnius geboren, studierte Fernsehregie am Litauischen Konservatorium von 1984 bis 1989. Er hat mehrere Dokumentarfilme inszeniert, mit denen er in vergangenen Jahren auch im Programm der Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck vertreten war. „Earth of the Blind erhielt 1992 den European Film Award als Besten Dokumentarfilm. „Der letzte Waggon" ist sein erster Kurzspielfilm. "

Director Audrius Stonys, born 1966 in Vilnius, studied television directing at the Lithuanian Conservatory from 1984 to 1989. He has made several documentaries that have been screened at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck over the years. Earth of the Blind" received the European Film Award in 1992 as Best Documentary. "The Last Car" is his first short feature."
