Inhalt/ Summary

Nicklas besucht die letzte Klasse eines Gymnasiums in einer schwedischen Kleinstadt. Seine Zukunftsaussichten sind blendend – dank guter Noten und der übertriebenen Fürsorge seiner Mutter, die bereits einen Studienplatz an einer Eliteuniversität und einen Job bei einer Investmentbank für ihn im Auge hat. Nicklas selbst hat andere Pläne. Er schreibt Gedichte und will an einem Schriftsteller-Programm in London teilnehmen. Nur sein bester Freund weiß davon – und der schiebt alle Schuld auf Nicklas, als er von einer kriminellen Jugendgang verdächtigt wird, einen Raubüberfall verraten zu haben. Die Bande, die von der aggressiven Anneli angeführt wird, nimmt Rache und schlägt Nicklas brutal zusammen. Am nächsten Tag nimmt niemand mehr von ihm Notiz. In einem Stadium zwischen Leben und Tod ist Nicklas für seine Umwelt völlig unsichtbar geworden, kann aber wie ein Geist unbeobachtet am Leben der anderen teilhaben. Das führt Nicklas zu völlig neuen Erkenntnissen. Auch Anneli sieht er jetzt in einem neuem Licht. Und es gelingt ihm, Kontakt mit ihr aufzunehmen.Das Spielfilmdebüt von Joel Bergvall und Simon Sandquist nach einem Roman von Mats Wahls ist eine faszinierende Mischung zwischen Teen-Movie und Mystery Thriller mit einigen überraschenden Wendungen. In den Hauptrollen bewähren sich die Newcomer Gustaf Skarsgård (Sohn von Stellan) und Tuva Novotny ("Jalla! Jalla!", NFL 2001).

Nicklas attends the final year of secondary school in a small Swedish town. His prospects look good – with excellent marks and a protective mother who has already got her eye on a place at a top university and a job with an investment bank. Nicklas himself has other plans. He writes poetry and wants to join a creative writing programme in London. Only his best friend knows about it – and he puts all the blame on Nicklas when he is accused by a criminal youth gang of grassing about a robbery. The gang, headed by the aggressive Anneli, takes revenge and beats Nicklas up badly. Next day he is ignored by everybody. Caught between life and death, Nicklas has become invisible, but, like a ghost, he can take part unobserved in the lives of others. This gives Nicklas new insights. He even sees Anneli differently and manages to contact her.The first feature film by Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist, based on the novel by Mats Wahls, is situated between teen movie and mystery thriller, and and has no few surprising turns and twists. Added bonus: the fine performances by newcomers Gustaf Skarsgård (Stellan's son) and Sweden's "Shooting Star" Tuva Novotny ("Jalla! Jalla!", NFL 2001).

Regisseur Joel Bergvall, Jahrgang 1973, studierte wie sein Regiepartner Simon Sandquist Film und Fernsehen an der Södra Latin's High School. Nach seinem Abschluss arbeitete er als Nachrichtenkameramann. Während der 90-er Jahre war Bergvall für verschiedene europäische Fernsehanstalten in Israel tätig. 1997 vollendete er mit Sandquist den Kurzfilm „Victor“, der für den Oscar nominiert wurde.Regisseur Simon Sandquist, Jahrgang 1973, ging 1994 bis 1995 an die Montclair State University in den USA. Seitdem hat er als Freelancer Regie geführt und produziert, außerdem hat er Musikvideos, Dokumentationen und Nachrichtensendungen realisiert. „Der Unsichtbare“ ist sein Debüt als Spielfilmregisseur.

Director Joel Bergvall, born in 1973, studied Film and Television at Södra Latin's High School, as did his co-director Simon Sandquist. On graduating, he worked as a news cameraman. During the 1990s Bergvall worked for several European television stations in Israel. In 1997 he and Sandquist made the Oscar-nominated short film “Victor”.Director Simon Sandquist, born in 1973, attended Montclair State University in the USA from 1994 to 1995. Since then he has worked freelance as a director and producer, and has made several music videos, documentaries and news reports. “The Invisible” marks his debut as a feature film director.
