Inhalt/ Summary

Eine Liebesgeschichte in einem Vorort von Helsinki. Jukka ist 13 und wird in der Schule gemobbt. Mutig schreitet er ein, wenn die 19-jährige Johanna aus dem Apartmentblock gegenüber mal wieder von ihrem betrunkenen Stiefvater malträtiert wird. In der Schule, dank der väterlichen Zuneigung des schwulen Kunstlehrers Matti, endeckt Jukka die Fotografie. Die Fotos, die er von Johanna macht, verhelfen ihr sogar dazu, in ihren Traumberuf als Model einzusteigen: Sie gewinnt einen Schönheitswettebewerb. Jukka verliebt sich in Johanna, bekommt aber von ihr einen Korb. Als Lehrer Matti erkrankt, fühlt sich Jukka von allen guten Geistern verlassen.„Young Love“ erzählt von den ersten Schritten in der Welt der Liebe und des Schmerzes des Erwachsenseins.

A love story located in a suburb of Helsinki. Jukka is thirteen and a casualty from school yard bullying. Motivated by goodwill, he steps forward to protect Johanna from regular persecution by a drunken stepfather. Johanna is nineteen and fives in the opposite block of flats. At school, guided by Martti, a gay art teacher with paternal sentiments, Jukka discovers photography. Benefiting from his pho-tographic skills Johanna achieves her ambition to be a model and, with the aid of Jukka's pictures, she wins a beauty contest. Consumed with the confidence of success, Jukka falls in love with Johanna but she rejects him. When Martti's health takes a turn for the worse Jukka feels abandoned by everyone.“Young Love” is a story about how to learn to take the first steps of love and survive in a world of adult pain.

Arto Lehkamo, Jahrgang 1962. Schriftsteller, Produzent und Regisseur. Abschluss an der Finnischen Filmschule in Helsinki 1991. Hat drei Fernseh-Produktionen gemacht; „The Pond“, „Far away in the Summer“, und eine Dokumentation über einen berühmten Geistlichen in Finnland. Sein Spielfilm-Debüt „The Cross Spider“ (1993), der die Geschichte eines Verbrechens erzählt, ist vom Film Noir inspiriert. „Young Love“ ist Arto Lehkamos dritter Spielfilm.

Arto Lehkamo, born in 1962, is a writer, producer and director. He graduated from the Finnish Film School, Helsinki, in 1991. He has made three television productions and a documentary about a famous theologist in Finland. His feature film debut "The Cross Spider" (1993) telling the story of a crime, is inspired by film noir. "Young Love" is Arto Lehkamo's third feature film.
