"Ich bin an einem Sonntag geboren. Meine Mutter sagte, wenn ein Kind, das an einem Sonntag geboren ist, gut ist, kann es Feen sehen. Ich bin jetzt 54 und habe immer noch keine Feen gesehen …" Der Film zeigt drei Frauen aus verschiedenen Generationen und Berufen in ihrem Alltag und ihrem Bestreben, Anerkennung durch andere zu erlangen. Doch was sie auch tun und wie sehr sie sich bemühen, es bleibt ihnen ein konstantes Gefühl der Unzulänglichkeit.Klassischer, gut geschnittener Dokumentarfilm, der auf jeglichen Kommentar verzichtet und ausschließlich die Protagonistinnen selbst zu Wort kommen lässt. Er bringt einem die unterschiedlichen Frauen nahe und macht auf ein "typisch weibliches" Problem aufmerksam, das die Generationen durchzieht.

"I was born on a Sunday. My mother said that if a child born on a Sunday is good it can see fairies. I am 54 years old now, and I have never seen a fairy …" The film shows women of various generations and occupations in everyday life and their efforts to achieve recognition. Yet no matter what they do and no matter how they strive, they are left with feelings of inadequacy.Classic, well cut documentary without commentary, that allows the protagonists to speak for themselves. It makes the different women tangible and highlights a "typically female" problem that affects all generations.

Hanna Miettinen, geb. 1973 in Helsinki, studierte Ästhetik an der Universität in Helsinki. Ihre ersten Filme waren kurze Videoarbeiten: „9,95 Per Minute“ (1995) und „If You Only Knew“ (1996). Ihr Kurzfilm „The Rose of the Railroad“ (1996) erregte große Aufmerksamkeit: 1997 wurde er auf dem Internationalen Kurzfilmfestival in Tampere lobend erwähnt und wurde für das Filmfestival in Cannes ausgewählt. Daneben bekam sie für „100 Clocks“ 1998 den Prix Europa, Young Europe Encouragement Amard, Berlin. Hanna Miettinens Film „Good Girls” erhielt im Jahr 2000 in Tampere den Spezialpreis im nationalen Wettbewerb.

Director Hanna Miettinen, born in 1973, comes from Helsinki, where she studied Aesthetics. Her first films were short videos: "9,95 Per Minute" (1995) and "If You Only Knew" (1996). Her short film "The Rose of the Railroad" (1996) aroused considerable attention. In 1997 it received a special mention at the Tampere short film festival and was selected for Cannes. In 1998 "100 Clocks" received the Prix Europa und Young Europe Encouragement Award, Berlin. Hanna Miettinen's Film "Good Girls" won the special prize in the national competition at Tampere in 2000.
