Inhalt/ Summary

Viljo und Kaisu Mikkonen, die ein kleines Bauunternehmen besaßen, haben alles verloren. Die schlimmste Rezession in der Geschichte Finnlands nahm ihnen in den 80er Jahren ihre Existenzgrundlage. Jetzt sind sie arbeitslos, und der Entschuldungsplan läuft noch. So ergreifen sie die Chance, für eine amerikanische Direktvermarktungsgesellschaft tätig zu werden, die den finnischen Markt erschließen will. Die Arbeit scheint einfach: Man benutzt die Produkte der Firma - Vitamine, Soja-Produkte, sonstige Nahrungsergänzungsmittel - und empfiehlt sie seinen Freunden. Für jeden neuen Kunden, der im Schneeballsystem gewonnen wird, erhält man eine Belohnung - und nach gewisser Zeit einen Extra-Bonus: einen neuen Wagen. Der Film begleitet die Mikkonens auf ihrem Weg, der doch mühseliger ist als gedacht.

Vilgo and Kaiso Mikkonen, who had small construction company, have lost everything. The worst recession in Finnish history pulled the rug from under their feet in the 1980s. Now they are unemployed and working off their debts. They seize the chance of working for an American direct marketing company that is looking to get a foothold on the American market. The idea is to use the company products - vitamins, soya products and food supplements - and recommend them to friends. There is a commission for every new customer gained in a snowball process, and after a while there is the added bonus of a new car. The film follows the Mikkonens on their new path, which is stonier than they expected.
