Inhalt/ Summary

Auf einer entlegenen Insel inmitten des tosenden Atlantiks steht 1913 eine Hochzeit bevor. Die schöne Sirsa hat beschlossen zu versuchen, ihre wahre Liebe, den wilden und romantischen Ivar, zu vergessen und stattdessen mit Harald den Bund der Ehe einzugehen. Harald ist der Sohn der bedeutendsten Familie der Insel. Während Ivar und Harald um die Zuneigung von Sirsa kämpfen, tanzt die illustre Gesellschaft den rhythmischen und hypnotischen Färöer-Tanz – bis plötzlich die Nachricht von einem Schiffsunglück eintrifft: Ein englischer Trawler ist auf Grund gelaufen. Das Beziehungsgeflecht der Menschen wird dadurch nachhaltig verändert.

It is 1913: a wedding is soon to take place on a remote island in the middle of the raging Atlantic. The beautiful Sirsa has decided to try and forget her true love, the wild and romantic Ivar, and to enter into a marriage with Harald instead. Harald is the son of the most imporant family on the island. Whilst Ivar and Harald battle for Sirsa’s affections, the illustrious society dances the rhythmic, hypnotic Faröe Island wedding dance – until suddenly news arrives of a shipwreck: an English trawler has run aground. This has a lasting effect on the network of relations among the island people.

Regisseur Agust Gudmundsson wurde in Reykjavik geboren. Dort studierte er Isländisch und Französisch. Er lernte Schauspiel an der nationalen Theaterschule und besuchte die National Film School in London. Außer seiner Drehbuch- und Regiearbeit für Spielfilme produzierte er zahlreiche Fernsehprojekte, darunter „Nonni“ und „Manni“, die auch in Deutschland zu sehen waren.

Director Agust Gudmundsson was born in Reykjavik, where he also studied Icelandic and French. After this, he trained as an actor at the National Drama School and attended the National Film School in London. Besides his screenplay work and directing for films, he has also produced numerous television projects, including “Nonni” and “Manni” – which were also screened in Germany.
