Inhalt/ Summary

Der Müßiggänger und Simplicissimus Hugo wird auf ein Abenteuer ins tiefe Irenland geschickt. Der Kampf mit keltischen Urgewalten wie Säufern, Hausfrauen und Helikoptern wird hart wie die Brandung der Connemara-Küste. Nach einer dreitägigen Hetze gegen die Uhr kehrt er zurück in seinen Paradiesgarten an der Elbe. Resümée: „Aller Ärger auf dieser Welt kommt daher, daß wir es nicht fertigbringen, allein zu Hause zu bleiben.“ (Blaise Pascal)

The idler and Simplicissimus Hugo is sent on an adventure into deepestIreland. His struggle with primeval Celtic forces such as drunkards, housewives and helicopters turns out to be as relentless as the breakers on the Connemara coast. After a three day race against the clock, he returns to his garden paradise by the Elbe. The moral being: "All the troubles of this world stem from our unwillingness to stay at home and keep to ourselves." (Blaise Pascal)

Pete Parwich, geboren 1969, entdeckte nach Studien in Wien und Dublin in den Worten seines Theaterlehrers George Tabori sein Credo: "Humor ist die Abwesenheit von Perfektion". Der Erfolg seines Filmregiestudiums am Hamburger Hark-Bohm-Institut (1996-98) stand damit beständig am Rande des Abgrunds, doch jetzt scheint seine Berufung, den irischen Geist in die Welt zu tragen, durch die Zusammenarbeit mit der Filmwerkstatt Schleswig-Holstein gesichert. 

After studying in Vienna and Dublin, Peter Parwich, born in 1969, found a credo in the words of his theatre teacher, George Tabori: "Humor is the absence of perfection." Whilst this credo was a perpetual threat to the success of his studies in film directing at the Hark Bohm Institute, Hamburg, his present collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein Film Workshop appears to have secured him in his mission to carry the Irish spirit out into the world.
