Eine poetisch-realistische Dokumentation über die dänische Insel Lolland und ihre Menschen. Gefilmt wurde in den Herbst- und Wintermonaten 1995 bis 1997. Wir treffen auf den Farmer, der intensive Landwirtschaft auf einem der besten Böden Europas betreibt, den Landmann, der seine Arbeit noch wie seine Vorväter verrichtet, den Gärtner, der seinen Garten als Schutz gegen den Wind gestaltet. Doch da sind auch der Mystiker, der magische Steine im Erdreich findet, und der Genetiker, der eine neue Blutgruppe auf Lolland entdeckt hat, außerdem der Adlige, dessen Leben die Jagd ist. "Homo Lalandiense" gewann beim Festival in Odense 1998 den Grand Prix und den ersten Preis beim Baltikum Filmfestival Bornholm 1998.

A poetic yet realistic portrait of the isle of Lolland and its inhabitants, shot during the winter months of 1995 to 1997. We meet the farmer intensively cultivating some of the most fruitful soil in Europe, while another farmer still works the land the way his forefathers did, and the gardener shapes his garden as a foil against the wind. But we also meet the mystic searching for magic stones in the earth, the geneticist who has identified a new blood group on Lolland, and the nobleman whose life is the hunt. "Homo Lalandiense" received the Grand Prize of the Odense festival 1998 and the First Prize at the Baltic Film Festival Bornholm 1998.

Regisseur Dan Säll, geboren in Schweden, lebt seit vielen Jahren in Dänemark. Er arbeitet als Regisseur und Kameramann. "Homo Lalandiense" ist sein vierter Film.

Director Dan Säll, born in Sweden, has lived in Denmark for many years working as cameraman and director. "Homo Lalandiense" is his fourth film.
