Inhalt/ Summary

Das frisch verheiratete Paar Einar und Lene verbringt seine Ferien auf einer Sørland-Insel. Als Einar eines Abends mit Bjørn, dem einzigen auf der Insel lebenden Nachbarn und Jugendfreund Lenes, auf Angeltour geht, bekommt Lene unverhofft Besuch. Ihr früherer Geliebter, der Psychologe Gaute, wurde just von seiner Frau verlassen und sucht nun bei Lene mehr als Trost. Lene weist seine Annäherungsversuche zurück, lässt ihn jedoch bei sich übernachten. Am nächsten Morgen, kurz vor der Rückkehr der beiden Männer, muss Lene zu ihrem Entsetzen feststellen, dass Gaute nackt und tot im Bett liegt. Um ihrem schrecklich eifersüchtigen Ehemann diese Situation nicht erklären zu müssen, schleppt Lene den Toten in den Kartoffelkeller. Eine schwarze Komödie, in der frisch und frech erzählt wird, wie eine unerwünschte Leiche die drei Inselbewohner in Wahnsinn, Mord und Totschlag treibt.

Newlyweds Einar and Lene are staying on a Sørland island. One evening, Einar goes fishing with Bjørn, their only neighbour on the island, and an old friend of Lene’s. In his absence, Lene has an unexpected visit from a former lover. Gaute is a psychologist whose wife has just left him. He has come to seek more than just sympathy from Lene. Lene rejects his advances, but lets him stay the night. Next morning, shortly before the men return from their fishing trip, Lene discovers to her horror that Gaute is lying in bed naked – and dead. Fearing she cannot explain the situation to her jealous husband, Lene drags the body down to the cellar where the potatoes are stored. In this refreshingly impious black comedy, an unwanted body drives the three islanders to the brink of madness, murder and manslaughter.

Nils Gaup, geboren 1955 in Kautokeino in Norwegisch-Lappland, besuchte 1974-78 die Schauspielschule und war danach als Darsteller in etlichen norwegischen Spielfilmen zu sehen. Außerdem gründete er die erste samische Theatergruppe. Sein Debütfilm „Pathfinder“ (1987), zu dem er 1985 das Drehbuch geschrieben hatte, war der erste Spielfilm in samischer Sprache. Er fand große internationale Beachtung und erhielt sogar eine Oscar-Nominierung. Nils Gaup drehte danach Filme für Fernsehen und Kino, darunter einige internationale Koproduktionen. „Ferien mit einer Leiche“ blieb bislang sein größter Erfolg und wurde 1994 mit zwei „Amanda“-Filmpreisen ausgezeichnet: als bester norwegischer und als bester skandinavischer Film des Jahres.

Nils Gaup, born in 1955 in Kautokeino in Norwegian Lapland, attended drama school there from 1974-78. Having acted in many Norwegian films, he also founded the first Sami theatre ensemble. His debut film “Pathfinder” (1987), for which he wrote the script in 1985, was the first feature film made in the Sami language. It was internationally acclaimed and nominated for an Oscar. Nils Gaup went on to make films for TV and cinema, including several international co-productions. “Head Above Water” is his biggest success to date, winning two Amanda film awards in 1994 as Best Norwegian Film and Best Scandinavian Film.
