Ein faszinierend düsterer Film aus Island: Grímurs Kindheit geht mit einer schrecklichen Naturkatastrophe und dem Tod seiner Familie jäh zu Ende. Obwohl Grímur diesen Schicksalsschlag in Visionen vorausgesehen hatte, konnte er ihn nicht verhindern. Über dreißig Jahre später wird Grímur noch immer von Schuldgefühlen geplagt. Die Bilder der Vergangenheit verfolgen ihn und bringen sein Leben, seine Malerei und die Beziehung zu seiner Freundin – die sich ein Kind wünscht – durcheinander. Wird es Grímur gelingen, mit sich selbst und seinem Schicksal Frieden zu schließen? „Das blaue Licht ist kalt, es ist das Licht des Himmels, des Meeres, des Todes und der Ewigkeit. Auf der anderen Seite des Spektrums ist das warme gelbe Licht der Sonne und des Lebens. Die wechselnden Farben und die verschiedenen Gesichter der Naturlandschaften spiegeln unser Innenleben wider“, erklärt Regisseur Oddsson. Mit hypnotischen Bildern und einem tiefen Blick in die Abgründe der Seele zieht dieser Film in seinen Bann. In der Hauptrolle der faszinierende Ingvar E. Sigurdsson (u.a. „Angels of the Universe“, NFL 2000).

A fascinating, dark film from Iceland. Grímur’s childhood ends with the natural catastrophe that kills his family. Although Grimur had had a premonition of this, he had been unable to prevent it. More than thirty years later, Grimur is still tormented by guilt. Flashbacks disrupt his life, his painting and the relationship with his girlfriend, who wants a child. Will Grimur be able to find inner peace and accept the way his life has developed? “Blue light is cold, it is the light of the sky, the sea, of death and of eternity. At the other end of the spectrum is the warm yellow light of the sun and of life. The changing colours and different faces of the natural scenery mirror our inner emotions,” explains director Oddsson. This spellbinding film with its hypnotic images gazes into the depths of the human soul. In the leading role is the fascinating Ingvar E. Sigurdsson (who also appeared in “Angels of the Universe”, NFL 2000).

Auf der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in München studierte Hilmar Oddsson bis 1985 Regie. In dieser Zeit realisierte er seinen Aufsehen erregenden Kurzfilm „Í skugga scartaris“ über den geheimnisvollen Snaefellsjokull-Gletscher – der Ausgangspunkt von Jules Vernes „Die Reise zum Mittelpunkt der Erde“. Der Psychothriller „Eins og skepnan deyr“ war 1986 Oddssons Spielfilmdebüt, für das er auch das Drehbuch schrieb und die Musik komponierte. Auch als Filmkritiker und freischaffender TV-Produzent ist Oddsson aktiv, er hat zahlreiche Musikclips und Werbefilme inszeniert. „Kaltes Licht“ bezeichnet er als „die größte Herausforderung, vor der ich bisher als Regisseur stand“.

Hilmar Oddsson studied directing at the Munich College of Television and Film until 1985, during which time he created his acclaimed short film “In the Shadow of Scartaris” about the mysterious Snaefellsjokull glacier – starting point for Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”. The psychological thriller “The Beast” marked Oddsson’s 1986 feature film debut, for which he also wrote the script and composed the soundtrack. Oddsson is also a film critic and freelance TV producer and has created music clips and advertising films. He describes “Cold Light” as “my biggest directing challenge so far.”
