Inhalt/ Summary

Seit Hunderten von Jahren haben die Fischer vom Schleswiger Holm das Privileg, als einzige in der Schlei, dem langgestreckten Meeresarm der Ostsee, zu fischen. Doch heute leben in der idyllischen Siedlung die meisten Menschen von ganz gewöhnlichen Tätigkeiten. Nur wenige sind übrig geblieben aus der ”guten alten Zeit“, als die Männer wochenlang auf der Schlei mit Schleppnetz und Ruderbooten zum Fischen unterwegs waren und die Frauen und Kinder zu Hause auf reichen Fang hofften. Durch diese letzten Fischer, ihre alten Rituale und die Existenz des berühmten Friedhofs mitten in der Siedlung hat der Holm seine Identität bewahren können. Zum 350jährigen Jubiläum der Holmer Totengilde erzählt der Film – angereichert mit Archivbildern aus den 60er Jahren – in einer Spielhandlung die Geschichte von Anna und Christian, zwei echten Holmer Kindern, die aus Neugierde und Abenteuerlust beinahe in Gefahr geraten wären, wenn Opa Fiete nicht gewesen wäre, der alte Holmer Fischer...

For hundreds of years the fishermen from the Holm, a former island that is now part of the town of Schleswig, are the only people to be granted the privilege of fishing in the Schlei, the river forming a long inlet leading into the Baltic Sea. Nowadays, however, most of the inhabitants of this idyllic settlement pursue the usual forms of employment. Only a few fishermen are left from the "good old times” when men worked the Schlei with their dragnets and rowboats for weeks at a time, while the women and children stayed at home hoping for a big catch. The Holm has been able to retain its identity through these last fishermen, their rituals and the existence of the famous cemetery in the middle of the settlement. On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the Holm Guild of the Dead, the film tells the story – in the form of a dramatic plot, embellished with archival pictures from the 1960s – of two children from the Holm whose curiosity and adventurousness almost gets them into serious danger, if it weren’t for Grandpa Fiete, the old fisherman of the Holm…

Wilfried Hauke, geboren 1957 in Kiel, studierte Germanistik, Skandinavistik und Philosophie in Kiel, Aarhus, Kopenhagen und Lund und promovierte 1991 mit einem Buch über Theaterliteratur in Skandinavien. Von ihm stammen zahlreiche Publikationen zur skandinavischen Literatur und Radiofeature zur europäischen Film-, Theater- und Literaturszene. 1991 kam er als Autor und Moderator zum NDR und war als freier Feuilleton-Redakteur auch für andere Fernsehanstalten tätig. 1994 wurde er Realisator für das N3-Fernsehen (”Ostseereport“, ”Kulturjournal“, „Bücherjournal“) und Mitarbeiter des Schleswig-Holstein-Magazins. Seit 1997 hat er als Filmautor und Regisseur Beiträge für N3, ARD und arte gestaltet.

Wilfried Hauke was born in Kiel in 1957. He read German and Scandinavian studies and Philosophy at Kiel, Aarhus, Copenhagen and Lund, and in 1991 presented his doctoral thesis on theatrical literature in Scandinavia. He has published widely on Scandinavian literature and has written radio features on European film, theatre and literature. In 1991 he became a writer and presenter for NDR and freelance arts editor for other television stations. He has contributed to the arts and cultural programme of N3 television ("Ostseereport”, "Kulturjournal”, "Bücherjounal”) and Schleswig-Holstein-Magazin since 1994, and has written and directed films for N3, ARD and arte since 1997.
