The Lübeck Film Studies Colloquium is a collaboration between Journal of Scandinavian Cinema and the Nordic Film Days. Over two days, there will be short lectures, discussions, and conversations with guests of the Nordic Film Days. The Colloquium welcomes students and researchers as well as everyone else with an interest in the study of film, in particular, of course, the cinemas of the Nordic countries.
This year the Colloquium will place particular focus on two themes. First, “Cross und queer” accompanies the festival’s Retrospective film series and an In Focus section of Journal of Scandinavian Cinema with discussions on cross-dressing in Nordic film. Second, the connections and collaborations between Scandinavian and German film cultures has been a recurring theme at the colloquium, and this year there is a particular focus on Scandi-German exchanges during silent era. Further presentations, discussions and conversations are detailed in the colloquium programme.
The programme is curated by Anders Marklund, senior lecturer in film studies at Lund University, head of studies of Creative Writing, Film Studies and Theatre Studies at the same university, as well as primary editor of the Journal of Scandinavian Cinema (Intellect).
