Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck sind das Schaufenster des nord- und nordosteuropäischen Filmschaffens. Sie unterstützen in hervorragender Weise den kulturellen Austausch im Rahmen der Ostsee-Kooperation, die einen besonderen Schwerpunkt der Politik des Landes Schleswig-Holstein ausmacht. Seit Jahrzehnten tragen die Filmtage der Hansestadt Lübeck dazu bei, Vertrauen und Verständnis unter Nachbarn zu fördern, Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen ihnen zu entdecken, die Tradition der gemeinsamen Geschichte der Ostsee-Anrainer fortzuentwickeln.
Sie gehören zu den bedeutenden kulturellen Ereignissen im Norden. Das überaus erfolgreiche Jubiläumsfestival zum 40. Geburtstag zeigte einmal mehr, welch wichtigen Faktor die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck als Kulturveranstaltung von internationalem Rang in einem modernen Europa darstellen. Unter den internationalen Kulturereignissen, von denen es heute mehr denn je gibt, nehmen die Filmtage eine besondere Stellung ein. Ihre Attraktivität beziehen sie daraus, dass sie in erster Linie ein Treffen der Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher mit ihrem Publikum sind - und das werden sie auch weiterhin bleiben.
Hierfür nämlich sind wir in Schleswig-Holstein Spezialisten: dass internationale Events niemals den zwischenmenschlichen Kontakt, das Persönliche verlieren und dass sie stets einen intensiven Gedankenaustausch auf hohem künstlerischen Niveau erlauben. Ich danke der Hansestadt Lübeck als Veranstalterin, dem bewährten Organisationsteam und allen Beteiligten für ihr Engagement. Den Förderern und Stiftern danke ich für ihre großzügige Unterstützung.
Den 41. Nordischen Filmtagen Lübeck - den letzten Filmtagen in diesem Jahrtausend - wünsche ich einen erfolgreichen Verlauf und allen Gästen ein anregendes Wochenende in Schleswig-Holstein.
 
 
The Nordic Film Days in Lübeck are the primary showcase for film-making in northern and north-eastern Europe. The festival makes an outstanding contribution to cultural exchange within the framework of cooperation in the Baltic region, which constitutes one of the main focal points of Schleswig-Holstein's cultural policy. For decades, the film festival, organised by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, has contributed to the promotion of trust and understanding between neighbours, to the discovery of common features and differences, and to a further development of the shared historical tradition of the states bordering the Baltic.
It is one of the most important cultural events in the north. The extremely successful 40th anniversary festival demonstrated once again how important a factor the Nordic Film Days Lübeck is; a cultural event of international status in a modern Europe. Among international cultural events - of which there are more than ever today - the festival plays a very special role. Its attraction is based on the fact that first and foremost it is an encounter between the film-makers and their audience - and it will continue in this way. For in Schleswig-Holstein this is our speciality: international events never lose the personal element, and they always permit an intensive exchange of ideas of a high artistic standard.
I would like to thank the city of Lübeck, the tried and trusted organisation team and all those participating for their commitment. Our gratitude is also due to the promoters and sponsors for their generous financial support.
I wish the 41st Nordic Film Days in Lübeck - the last festival of the millennium - every success, and hope all its guests will enjoy a stimulating weekend in Schleswig-Holstein.
